How a night out in Sofia runs
Sofia starts late. Dinner at 20:00, first drinks closer to 22:00, and bars filling up around midnight is normal here. Clubs run until the early morning, and the centre is compact enough that you can move between three or four places on foot.
Prices are low by Western European standards, and most places have no dress code beyond looking like you made an effort. Saturday is the biggest night of the week, which is exactly why we host on Saturdays.
The kinds of places you'll find

Small, loud, and social — the centre is full of them. This is where most of our mixers happen, because it is easy to talk without shouting for the first hour.
- Live music and jazz
Sofia has a strong live-music habit. Weeknights are surprisingly good if you want atmosphere without a queue.

Late, busy and mostly around the centre and the boulevards. Best after a bar or two rather than as a starting point.
- Rakia bars and tasting rooms
A distinctly Bulgarian night out — rakia sipped slowly alongside food. Because our meetups rotate across different venues around the city, ordering a glass of rakia is a great conversation starter when connecting with new people at our mixers.

In summer the city moves outdoors. Our warm-weather events lean heavily on terraces for exactly that reason.
Going out alone in Sofia
Sofia's nightlife is group nightlife. Tables are booked by friends who have known each other since school, which makes it a wonderful city to go out in — and an awkward one to arrive in alone. Most people who message us are not looking for another bar recommendation; they are looking for someone to go with.
